Veronica Knox was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and has been a single parent since 2007 to one kid and one (dog (a.k.a "Sophalofa"), Sophie for short.) Veronica is a designer, artist, painter, metal-smith, jeweler, photographer, fabricator, writer, and Software Engineer and Software tester. Veronica uses heat signatures from her digital photographs of the solar system, environment, and nature to make clothing from art.
"I was raised in a house where things were always being constructed. My mom is a professional seamstress who would also make anything and everything for use in our home. Mom worked at J C Penny's making catalog ordered draperies but she also made upholstery, jewelry, hats, purses, quilts, blankets, knits, she could draw and paint, all of our clothing...you name it.. she could do it... Thus, as a child I played endlessly with fabrics, needles, tassels, tassels and did I say tassels...colors, patterns, textures, yarn, thimbles, colored pencils, wood, tacks, thread, sketches, drawings, and sewing machine parts. My mom is a genius and I did not realize that until two years ago. My mom is the greatest inspiration of my life and she turned me on to jewelry making in 2010. I have been making jewelry every since. I started out wire wrapping then I went to the Spruill Arts Center here in Atlanta, Georgia to learn the art of the Metalsmith and attended a Bench Jewelry Workshop at Stuller's in Lafayette, LA. I love to make art that is wearable using semi-precious gemstones, precious metals, and mixed media. My fascination is to manipulate medium the of my photographs or artwork to identify and manifest the transformative signature persona and language which otherwise can not be seen by the naked eye and make it transparent. My wearable art defines who we are so wear it - live it!"
